Katanauts' (キャタノッツ) Control Scheme

Hi!

My name is xDaex, I'm the developer of the game. Nice to meet you all! =o)

Today I'll talk about the controls.

As you may have already noticed, Katanauts (キャタノッツ) doesn't have direct, on-screen control buttons. Still, your character, Leopold the Cat, can perform many different actions. But how is it possible?

The answer is simple: it is possible because of the game's context-sensitive control scheme. This means the game analyzes the in-game situation whenever the player touches the screen and performs the best suitable action.

These actions can be as follows:

  • JUMP if Leopold is grounded or just touched the water's surface. Precise timing is always crucial!
  • DOUBLE JUMP if Leopold is in the air and no enemy is close to him.
  • ATTACK if Leopold runs on a platform and an opponent gets close to him.
  • MID-AIR ATTACK if Leopold is in the air and an opponent gets close to him. If the opponent is a Samurat, a spectacular Lightning Attack will be performed.
  • TELEPORT, right before Leopold would collide with a platform from the side. This action is a second chance with a small cooldown time, so you must be more careful after using it.

The Glove in the YouTube video shows the timing of the touches and the actions performed.

I hope this brief explanation helps you get through the initial difficulties, but please don't forget: Katanauts (キャタノッツ) is hard.

As always, I appreciate your feedback! =o)
